21st November - Deaf Awareness Workshop

This workshop is for beginners.

We believe everyone should have access to basic British Sign Language (BSL) skills that promote understanding, connection, and inclusion. This one-off workshop offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and practice essential BSL communication tools. Whether you want to communicate more effectively with Deaf individuals or simply make your daily interactions more inclusive, this session will equip you with practical skills that truly make a difference in everyday life and work. 

Cost: £30 per person (includes refreshments & light lunch) 

This fun and interactive five-hour session is designed to build deaf awareness and help you feel confident communicating with Deaf and hard-of-hearing people.  Through practical guidance and engaging activities, you'll learn how to make everyday interactions more inclusive, whether in the workplace, in customer-facing roles, or in community settings.  

Who is this course ideal for?  This workshop is perfect for professionals and organisations such as: 

• Educational institutions (teachers, teaching assistants, reception staff)
• Local council offices, libraries, courts, and public services
• Retail, construction, transport, and banking sectors 
• Healthcare providers including NHS staff, Bupa, hospitals, doctors, nurses, receptionists 
• Sports organisations such as Sale Sharks 
• Frontline emergency services: police, ambulance, fire brigade
